Hi, I’m Ciska.

I’m a mum to two little boys, a lover of printed photographs, and the person behind the camera here.

Photography started for a simple reason: I wanted to document my boys’ childhoods beautifully. A few months after my second son was born, I picked up a camera because I wanted photographs that felt worthy of printing and displaying in our home, not just living on a phone.

As I photographed my children, I became increasingly aware of something else. I was hardly in any of the photos. And when I was, they weren’t photographs I loved. The more mums I spoke to, the more I realised how common that feeling was.

So I started offering little motherhood sessions in the park while my youngest happily slept in a carrier nearby. I spent months photographing mothers with their babies and young children. I loved watching mums relax in front of the camera, seeing the way their children looked at them, and creating photographs that showed them how loved and important they are in their family’s story.

Along the way, I was fortunate enough to learn from some incredibly talented photographers. One of them generously introduced me to the world of maternity photography, and that experience completely changed the direction of my work. Because while motherhood photography will always have my heart, maternity photography is a love affair I could not stop.

I’m incredibly grateful to the photographers who have shared their knowledge with me, to the families who have trusted me, and to this little business that began simply because I wanted better photographs of my own children.

Beautiful Maternity Shoot

Ciska created a beautiful shoot for my maternity photos with everything being exceptionally planned, including beach location, timing (for the best lighting), outfit and poses that will look lovely in photos. I had not done one before and she was very friendly and helpful in guiding the session through. I absolutely love the outcome and photos, which are such a lovely memory of this special period. Even before our shoot, she was very considerate in the location of our photo shoot. She gave three stunning location options and as it is winter there was a lot of consideration and preparation time involved to make sure our shoot day was perfect especially considering the weather. Prior to the shoot, her communication was always clear and specific so we knew exactly what the plan was like the handy photo descriptions of where to meet up along the beach which made it so smooth and easy to understand.

During the shoot, we were all warmly welcomed by her calm personality and she made us feel really at ease. She has such an eye for capturing beautiful moments and she guided us professionally to achieve the most stunning photos!

As we left the carpark, we could see her in her car which I am only assuming is her dedication to the cause and sent us the most exciting sneak peek photos! Gosh she was super quick and it really showed how passionate she is to her craft! Ciska's gallery turnaround time was so quick and ALL of the photos are so beautiful and capture the magic of our family so well that it is hard to pick favourites!!

All in all, if you want a photographer who has excellent communication, professionalism, welcomes and eases you into the moments, an eye for detail, is clearly passionate about the craft (and is dang good at it) and someone who can truly capture the magic then I can't speak highly enough of Ciska!”

I charged just enough to make sure people showed up and spent months photographing mothers with their babies and young children. I loved it. I loved watching mums relax in front of the camera, seeing the way their children looked at them, and creating photographs that showed them how loved and important they are in their family’s story. Along the way, I was fortunate enough to learn from some incredibly talented photographers. One of them generously introduced me to the world of maternity photography, and that experience completely changed the direction of my work. Because while motherhood photography will always have my heart, I quickly fell in love with maternity sessions too. Maybe it’s because I never got the maternity photos I wanted for myself. I was planning them with my second baby, but he arrived at 33 weeks and I missed the opportunity. Whatever the reason, there is something incredibly special about documenting that brief season before everything changes. These days, I photograph both motherhood and maternity, creating soft, timeless images that celebrate women in seasons that pass far too quickly. I’m incredibly grateful to the photographers who have shared their knowledge with me, to the families who have trusted me, and to this little business that began simply because I wanted better photographs of my own children.
